Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith

Between 2019 and 2021, Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith collaborated on the creation of The Perfect Vision: a triptych of albums which took their inspiration from the writings of three emblematic French poets: Antonin Artaud, Arthur Rimbaud and René Daumal. Central to the work was the poets’ necessity to travel to different lands to acquire a new vision and perspective on themselves and their art. Recorded in the Sierra Tarahumara of Mexico (The Peyote Dance), the Abyssinian valley of Ethiopia (Mummer Love), and the Himalayan Summit of India (Peradam) respectively, each album retraces the poets’ footsteps, channelled through on-location recorded soundscapes, in search of hidden, earthy sounds that hold embedded existence, with Patti Smith revisiting the poets’ words that have been inspired by the landscapes. The result is a sound and visual montage that traverses the works of Rimbaud, Artaud and Daumal in their voyage to elsewhere.

Spatialised at Monom Studios, Berlin.

Drew McDowall

Drew McDowall's works are sacraments to alterity. An artist who has refused to conform in music and in life, McDowall mines the hallucinatory spaces that exist between reality and celestial otherness. His meditative compositions are haunting and spiritual, melding intricate modular soundscapes with cut-up samples, and deconstructing sounds into their most basic shuddering structures and shapes. The disorienting ambient mirages that result elicit terror, tender melancholy, and heavenly flickers of expansive beauty.

Produced and spatialised at Monom Studios, Berlin.

Suzanne Ciani | Improvisation on Four Sequences

The ‘diva of the diode’, Suzanne Ciani is a visionary through her use of the Buchla synth, with which she managed to rewrite the rules of the industry. The composer, musician, sound engineer, and five-time Grammy Award nominee is a pioneering figure in electronic music.

Bendik Giske

Norwegian-born Bendik Giske is a critically acclaimed artist who earned this recognition through his debut album, Surrender, an album that utilises his trademarked use of physicality as a form of expression. This nuanced take reflect Giske’s appreciation towards the importance of body in his work.

Spatialised at Monom Studios, Berlin.
