A musical journey that’s ghoulish, fantastical and other-worldly, featuring composer Saint-Saen’s hair-raising Dance Macabre, a depiction of the dead rising from their graves to dance to Death’s fiddle.
There’s magic of a more playful sort with Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and then a visit to the cavern inhabited by a troll king in Grieg’s The Hall of The Mountain King - music that goes at breakneck speed, depicting chaos in the cavern as an angry mob chases through the cave.
There’s also music to intrigue, with Lili Boulangers’ D’un Soir Triste (One Sad Evening) plus the mysterious Le Diamant Noir by Mel Bonis.
The whole performance is set to professionally designed lighting, enhancing the drama, and with the audience seated surrounding the orchestra. There's also an opportunity to meet the musicians after the show.
Orpheus Sinfonia is one of London’s most vibrant and inspiring orchestras, defined by its versatility and spirit of innovation, performing everything from symphonic repertoire and opera to world premières, film scores, immersive productions and education projects.
