Paola Estrella presents an immersive audiovisual performance exploring the symbolism, history, and myths of the Cenote Ring in Yucatán, Mexico. This piece reflects on the tensions between belief systems, the impact of an ancient asteroid, and its resonance with today’s ecological crises.
Through real-time 3D render editing and spoken word, live motion capture environment designed by Costas Kazantzis, a movement piece by Pierre Babbage, and live music by Montañera, the performance invites audiences into a sensorial journey of creation, destruction, and renewal. The Cenote Ring is enriched by a spatial soundscape designed by Bon Music Vision, incorporating field recordings, real-time API data of near-Earth objects, and generative synthesis. Gabrielle Venguer designed the garments inspired by the series of paintings developed by Paola Estrella as part of the creative process. The performance will be preceded by an artist talk in conversation with curator Pita Arreola.
Join us for a unique evening of deep reflection on nature, time, and the forces that shape our world.
